Innovation was key to the success of our inaugural festival, but our success didn’t come simply from a desire to create something new. It came from the inspiration to bring together a community of artists, music-lovers, merchants, venues, and committed sponsors and partners, who were all ready to take the Mile of our beautifully unique Downtown Appleton to the next level.
We at Mile of Music believe in the power of music-making to bring people together and inspire new ways of thinking. This was evident from day one of Mile 1, when even we were surprised by the huge turnout, the packed venues, and the number of excited, fun-filled faces of those making music together in our Music Education activities and workshops.
Our emphasis on local, original music makes our festival even more special, because that’s what reflects the authentic voice of our community and the hand-crafted flavor of our Downtown. We didn’t create this voice, nor did we craft this flavor (we give credit to Stone Arch for crafting the flavor of the official Mile of Music beer)–Mile of Music simply provided the platform for our community to express itself to the fullest.
Thanks to The Post-Crescent for recognizing our innovative efforts, and thanks to all our fans, sponsors, artists, venues, and organizers for making the music happen!
