We hope you had a fantastic holiday season! As we start to get into the groove of 2015, many of us are starting to look ahead and plan out what we want to accomplish in the next 12 months. Sleep more. Eat better. Spend more time with family. Read more books… The list goes on and on.
But no matter how long your list already is, consider adding this one thing to make your list easier to accomplish:
That doesn’t mean you have to start taking piano lessons or that you should dust off your great-uncle’s old violin (though that would be great, too). But simply listening to more music, making more music, or going to more concerts and shows can improve your mood, and studies show that better mood = better life.
Here are three ways to add more music to your life:
Last summer’s festival introduced us to many new talented and emerging artists while welcoming back some of our favorites from Mile 1. Now, our playlists are stocked with great original music to listen to year-round, and yours can be too! Don’t know where to start? Discover your next new favorite song on the Mile of Music Radio station, brought to you by our Community Radio Partner, 91.1 The Avenue. Stream the playlist HERE.
Who says you only have to listen to music? Pick up a guitar, get behind a drum kit, or sit down at a piano, and tell your own story – it’s never too late to start! If you need a little direction, you can get a start at our interactive music education workshops during Mile 3. Additionally, you can help a budding musician realize their potential by supporting our music education fund. Because what better gift is there than bringing music into someone’s life? We’ll be back and better than ever with more music, a new surprise or two, and a whole lot of fun! Make sure you’re fully prepared for Mile 3 by purchasing a Music-Maker Badge or Subscription Package, signing up for our e-newsletters to stay in the loop on Mile of Music news, and marking August 6-9 on your calendar!
A new year means new opportunities to enhance your life through music. Amidst your busy life, take some time to appreciate original artistry – it can help you liven up a get-together, relax in your free time, or even give you a great hobby. Take our suggestions, and by the time Mile 3 rolls around you’ll be ready to jump right in and take in every bit of music you can!
