Nothing gets you through the week like live, original music. The Mile of Music Productions “Concerts in the Courtyard” series, hosted by the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel, featured a wide variety of artists who were coming to Mile 3, or just missed us by a hair but still wanted to make an appearance in Appleton. Sunshine, tunes and fellow music-lovers made for a perfect “happy hour”.
In December, co-founder Cory Chisel visited two Appleton Area School District schools to award them each a grant through the Mile of Music Education Fund within the Appleton Education Foundation (link). With their grants, Wilson Middle is set to put on a performance of High School Musical Jr., and Janet Berry Elementary is purchasing electric strings instruments for use throughout the AASD. Congratulations to both schools!
If you were at Mile 3, you may have been “singing in the shower” for Tundraland. After the festival wrapped up, Tundraland launched its second scholarship opportunity for a local student. Congratulations to Brooklynn Hill, who selected a beautiful guitar back in December and is now taking lessons at Heid Music, thanks to Tundraland!
This Mile of Music Productions event helped spread holiday cheer with Cory Chisel, Adriel Denae and many other friends! It truly was a magical night, thanks to a great crowd at the Lawrence Memorial Chapel. The event also helped collect more than 300 gifts, gift cards and money to donate to local shelters because of the generosity of our concert attendees!
Why not celebrate the end of a great year of original music with more original music? Me Like Bees, Los Colognes, Motherfolk and Cool Waters Band rang in the new year at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel Grand Ballroom. To top it all off? We brought 2016 in with an awesome reprise of the Rolling Stones Tribute Jam.
In the midst of a chilly winter, there’s no better way to warm up than with original music and this Mile of Music Productions show proved it! These three Mile 3 alumni had us longing for summer, while also making us forget that it’s still chilly outside.
We’ve truly hit the ground running on planning for this year’s festival – from production, to artists, to organizing new activities, to developing web and app updates! We can’t wait for August!
