For the third consecutive year, Tundraland Home Improvements, a market leader in top quality, American-made home improvement products and presenting sponsor for Mile of Music, will award a music scholarship thanks to the song stylings of Mile of Music attendees.
As it has done the previous two years, Tundraland committed to awarding a local student one full year of music lessons and the instrument of his or her choice from Heid Music if 250 event attendees sang in one of the company’s model showers at Mile of Music, a free music festival in downtown Appleton that ran August 4-7. After more than 300 shower singers stepped up, area youth age 18 and younger are now invited to submit an essay to win the 2016 scholarship.
“Music brings people together and allows people to express themselves in a very powerful way,” Brian Gottlieb, president and owner of Tundraland, said. “We’ve already seen the impact these scholarships have made in the lives of two local students – Jordan Oudenhoven and Brooklynn Hill – and how they’ve grown as artists, musicians and individuals. Music is such a powerful means of expression, and we hope that through this year’s Singing in the Shower challenge, we can go on to inspire even more future musicians.”
Interested students should send a short essay on what music means to them, how a year of music lessons would impact their life to [email protected]. Submissions may also be dropped off or mailed to Attention: Music Scholarship at 2277 W. 41 Frontage Road, Kaukauna, WI 54130, by September 30, 2016. In addition to a year of music lessons and their instrument of their choice, the scholarship winner will have the opportunity to perform at Mile 5 in August 2017. The winner of this contest will be announced in early October 2016.
Area students 18 years old or younger, from elementary through high school, are eligible. To learn more about Tundraland Home Improvements, visit www.tundraland.com.
