One of Mile of Music’s most popular performers since the festival’s inception five years ago – Dan Rodriguez – will return for a special showcase with his full band on Friday, October 27 at OuterEdge Stage (303 N. Oneida Street) in Downtown Appleton.
Rodriguez will kick off the new Mile of Music Presents “Bring ‘em Back” concert series that will regularly feature artists who return to Appleton based on popular demand. Rodriguez was among the most mentioned artists by festival-goers who noted him as their “favorite performer” on the fan survey that followed Mile 5 in August.
The 90-minute concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are ON SALE NOW for $15 (+ tax/fee). Tickets will be $20 (+ tax/fee) the day of the show.
Rodriguez will return from his home base of Minneapolis with his full band for the club-style showcase. This show is produced and presented by Mile of Music Presents, the concert production and promotion arm of the Mile of Music Festival, developing the year-round original music initiative in Downtown Appleton.

The singer-songwriter appeared with his band for the first time at Mile 5 in August after playing the Mile 2, 3 and 4 festivals strictly as a solo artist. At Mile 5, he performed both solo and full-band sets to crowded venues throughout the weekend, including the Lawrence Memorial Chapel, Washington Square, Copper Rock, Appleton Beer Factory, Dr. Jekyll’s and OuterEdge Stage.
The smooth-voiced, quick-witted troubadour, originally from Michigan, released his latest full-length album, “25 Years,” in June, just prior to his Mile of Music appearances. He became known to many when his song “When You Come Home” was featured as part of a Budweiser commercial campaign about drinking responsibly. It featured a man coming home to his dog after a night out and quickly became an Internet sensation because of its tug-at-the-heart twist at the end of the commercial.
At Mile 5, Rodriguez’s six live sets provided multiple experiences for fans to hear his sound, from a nearly full Chapel performance on Saturday night to a main outside show at the new Washington Square stage, topped off by what’s become a traditional ending for him at the Fest – a jam-packed festival-ending show at the much-smaller Dr. Jekyll’s.
