19 Reasons to Ring in 2019 at New Year’s Encore Eve!
Posted Dec 20, 2018
We could give you a million reasons to join us on New Year’s Encore Eve, but in the spirit of ringing in 2019, we thought we’d pair it down to, well…19!
Already have your mind set on spending it with us? Purchase your ticket here!
- All four of the bands (and our emcee) are traveling across the country to celebrate with US: Collectively, the SEVEN artists performing at Mile of Music’s New Year’s Encore Eve are traveling a total of 2,894 miles to get here. We feel so honored that out of anywhere in the world, they’ve chosen to spend it with us!
- Celebratory champagne toast and balloon drop: Everyone loves a good midnight celebration, and we’re pretty sure C2 & The Brothers Reed (along with other artists from the night) are going to make it one to remember! The Red Lion Hotel, as always, provides each attendee with a glass of champagne. They bring it out about 10 minutes before midnight, so keep an eye out and cheers with us into 2019!
- Chocolate: Of course, you have to have a sweet treat! Downtown Appleton’s favorite candy shop, Crazy Sweet, will again be providing all sorts of delicacies to attendees in the Coffee & Chocolate Lounge. (Psst: This is included with your ticket too!) Stop in to find out what treat you like the most!
- Photo Booth: We’re so excited for our new-and-improved photo booth with Wisconsin Photo Booth Company! You’ll get a printed picture to remember all of your New Year’s Eve shenanigans — and you can visit as many times as you’d like between 7:30 and 10:30pm!
- The Mile Prize Wheel: Spin to win! We’ll have TONS of prizes this year ready for our lucky winners — everything from t-shirts to Downtown Appleton business gift certificates.
- C2 & The Brothers Reed: Hailing from the Bluegrass State, this four-man group (technically five with their official mascot) first met for a jam session in 2013, opened for a band just a few days later and set out on the road in an old Astro van without looking back. The combo has worked since day one, creating a smooth sound of gritty rock ‘n roll meets 1960s/1970s soul. Oh, and that fifth member? That’s Paul Thunderhawk. He’s an honorary mannequin mascot who travels with C2 and proudly sits on stage during every show. Check out their video for “Karma”
- The Brothers Footman: They call it “rockhopfunksoultry” or simply “summa music” … some of this and some of that. Indianapolis-based brothers Dikembe, Gerald (G), Michah (Sauce) and Joshua (Bubby) were surrounded by and always experimenting with music as kids, and the thing that really sealed the deal for their future pursuits was when all four siblings received instruments for Christmas. The Brothers Footman are joined by Zach Craft on guitar and Don (Tank) on drums. They set out on a nationwide tour in 2018 with a stop at CMA Fest in Nashville and some major buzz surrounding their hit singles “Clear Country Sky” and “Lil Mo Time.” Check out their video for “Clear Country Sky”.
- Elliott Blaufuss: Fast forward from the days when Blaufuss started out singing in the dingy basements of small, Minneapolis area bars to a more recent gig at Radio City Music Hall where he was the musical director and multi-instrumentalist for Eric Hutchinson. Currently working on his third solo effort while he calls Nashville home, Blaufuss has blended his vocals with guitar, keys, bass, Hammond organ and squeezebox to perform in some of the dirtiest clubs to the ritziest hotels around the world. His touring schedule has included stops with Hutchinson in support of Kelly Clarkson and Pentatonix as well as shows with Matt Nathanson and Phillip Phillips. Check out their video for “The Palm of Your Hand”!
- Chestnut Grove: Calling the small Pennsylvania town of Perkiomenville (which also doubles as the title of the band’s first album) home, this group of best friends met in high school and found a common bond in their love for rock ‘n roll. Busy touring in support of the EP “Black Champagne,” Chestnut Grove features the musical talents of John Tyler, James Daniels, Dee Gerhart, Zach Winkler and Gary Geers. The band has shared the bill with acts like The Hooters, Cyril Neville & the RSB and Mile of Music favorite Wild Adriatic. Check out Chestnut Grove’s video for “Newspaper Hats”.
- Emcee Dan Rodriguez: As one of the most-talked-about artists at Mile of Music, Rodriguez will return to Appleton to serve as Master of Ceremonies throughout the evening, guiding us toward the midnight hour with his wit, charm and mesmerizing vocals between performances. Although he’s not slated for a full set, you can expect some songs – and maybe a collaboration or two – from the Minneapolis-based crooner who’s performed and wowed at every Mile since 2014!
- Pop-Up Performances – Kyle Megna & Ross Catterton: This local duo will hop on the acoustic train and share some of their musical magic.
- Pop-Up Performances – Tae: The Green Bay native received rave reviews last summer at Mile 6 and now Tae is returning to serenade us with her powerful (just 20-year-old!) voice. She’ll be performing before the start of the event, and will join in later for a few tunes!
- Hotel Room/Music Packages: Trying not to fight over who will drive at the end of the night? Consider a hotel stay right at the Red Lion Hotel Paper Valley! Even if you decide to go out on the town after the night is over (for us), the hotel is right in the heart of it all! For $179 (+tax/fees), you’ll receive accommodations, tickets for two to the New Year’s Encore Eve event AND breakfast for two on New Year’s Day 2019! (Bloody Marys, anyone?)
- Party Favors: A New Year’s Eve party is really just a normal party if there aren’t New Year’s Eve favors! We’ll have hats, tiaras and glow bracelets to complete your New Year’s ensemble and have you looking super stylish going into 2019!
- Stone Arch Beer: You had us at beer! Stone Arch Brew House, a Mile of Music favorite, is creating a special beer exclusive to just a few venues throughout the Fox Cities on New Year’s Eve — and our event is one of them! More to come on that, but we heard it might involve (edible) glitter…
- Cost Effective: For $35 (+tax/fees), or $25 (+tax/fees) if you’re a Music-Maker, you can attend an all-encompassing New Year’s Eve bash!
- It’s ALL INSIDE: Alright, now normally we wouldn’t boast about this…but we live in Wisconsin after all! Last NYE was a whopping 5 degrees…yep, F-I-V-E. Once you’re inside at New Year’s Encore Eve, you don’t have to worry about the potential cold slapping you in the face again! Having the event all in one place makes us feel better about everyone’s safety, too! Parking is directly across the street from the hotel and is very affordable — you can even leave your car overnight if you aren’t able to drive home!
- Coffee: It might sound weird, but you’ll thank us later on this one. As soon as you feel your eyes start to droop, grab a cup of coffee in the Trilliant Coffee & Chocolate Lounge! We’ll have Keurig coffee makers and cups ready to go for your caffeine needs.
- (Nearly) Five Hours of Live Music!: There won’t be many times that music isn’t going on at New Year’s Encore Eve! Between pop-up performances, band sets and surprises from our Master of Ceremonies, we can’t wait to ring in 2019 with original music — just the way we like it!
