Back for its fourth season, Rhythms & Brews – the popular all-original, all-listening Wednesday night acoustic music series produced by Mile of Music – will return on Nov. 6 for a 24-show run hosted by Stone Arch at Riverview Gardens.
The series is sponsored by Nicolet Bank and the first of the free shows will be headlined by national touring artist Anna Tivel from Portland, OR, with Nashville-based Maya de Vitry slated as the opening act.
With the cooler Wisconsin weather setting in, Rhythms & Brews provides a way for music lovers to take in some live, original performances over the winter months and into early spring with shows running through April 29. Open to the community at no charge thanks to funding from Nicolet Bank and Stone Arch, the series features an intimate listening room setting.
Season 4 of Rhythms & Brews will showcase a combination of artists from past Mile of Music events along with musicians who are new to the burgeoning Appleton music scene. The Mile of Music Team is bringing in talent from across the nation as well as welcoming local acts from Wisconsin and the Fox Cities. “In lining up talent for Rhythms & Brews, we like to bring back Mile artists who thrive in an acoustic setting and also spotlight some new names that the audience will want to become familiar with,” said Dave Willems, whose Willems Marketing & Events firm produces Mile of Music and other original music events like Rhythms & Brews, Concerts in the Courtyard and New Year’s Encore Eve.
As the name of the series implies, there is also a brews-focused element to go with the rhythms at every show. Stone Arch Brew House will feature a rotation of its craft beers, highlighting a different brew each week, and also have its chef staff on hand to prepare made-from-scratch food options.
The Nov. 6 kickoff to the fourth season of Rhythms & Brews will include sets by Tivel and de Vitry, two acclaimed singer-songwriters who are touring together this fall. Tivel will be fresh off her European tour, starting a leg of shows across the U.S. in support of her latest album, “The Question.” She is a gifted storyteller/poet who bases many of her songs on characters she creates after observing people in her travels. De Vitry is the former lead singer and multi-instrumentalist of Stray Birds. She released her first solo record, “Adaptations,” in early 2019 after a delayed flight to Nashville led her to a cabin retreat in Pennsylvania and inspired several songs.
In addition to the kickoff show featuring Tivel and de Vitry, the schedule for November and December is as follows:
The schedule for the remaining 17 shows will be announced in November. In all, nearly 50 original music artists will be showcased throughout the series.
Shows are each Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. with the exception of Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 in observation of the holidays. Dining room doors open for dinner and drinks at 4:30 p.m. and doors for seating open in The Listening Room at 6:30 p.m. Mile of Music’s year-round Music-Makers subscribers have the opportunity to reserve a spot for the music on a first-come, first-served basis each week. Reservations from the public are accepted each week for dinner and drinks, and the free music is open to the community as capacity allows.
Through its first three seasons of Rhythms & Brews, Mile of Music and Stone Arch at Riverview Gardens have collaborated to host showcases from 125 artists for nearly 10,000 attendees.
This is the second year as lead sponsor for Nicolet Bank. Additional supporters for Rhythms & Brews are Bose, WHBY Radio, Red Lion Hotel Paper Valley, CopperLeaf Boutique Hotel and Courtyard by Marriott Appleton Riverfront. The series lineup is subject to change.
