Music has a way of bringing us together. It often makes a guest appearance at some of our most memorable occasions. So why should celebrating the New Year and counting down to 2020 be any different? At Mile of Music Presents: New Year’s Encore Eve, it won’t. Well, maybe just a tad. Music won’t only have a cameo on December 31, it will take center stage with the starring role for the night!
We’re welcoming 7 incredible acts from Mile 7 to help us close out 2019 and dive right in to 2020. Maybe you caught some of them last summer or at other Mile events, but in case you didn’t (or want to learn more!), here’s an introduction.
The HOSTS, Adrian+Meredith | Nashville
What happens when you pair an ace vocalist/acoustic guitar player with a traditional fiddler who can also belt out a song and both of them share a love for folk/Americana music? You get the wildly fun music of Adrian+Meredith! After 10 years as a solo artist, Adrian invited Meredith for a guest spot on his 2014 release and, well, the rest is history! They’ve had audiences dancing, stomping and singing along ever since!
POP-UP PERFORMER, Genevieve Heyward | Door County
Whether singing on her own or joining forces with some of her favorite fellow artists, Heyward’s voice is as dynamic as her vibrant personality. Fresh off a Midwest tour with her band, The North, and an overseas journey to Scandinavia, Heyward is excited to share her sophomore EP, “The River,” with the world.
POP-UP PERFORMER, David Paul Martin | Fox Cities
His music is a combination of indie pop and acoustic folk … bluesy rock and funky soul! Martin’s genre-hopping style keeps things fresh and fun. He’s a Wisconsin-based artist who wears many hats – singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer/producer – and wears them all well!
HEADLINING ACT, FREDDY & FRANCINE | Nashville
Folk. Pop. Americana. Soul. It’s hard to put a descriptor on this talented duo’s music as it’s so diverse and constantly evolving. Freddy (Lee Ferris) and Francine (Bianca Caruso) are about as real-life as musicians come. Harmonizing together for 10-plus years since meeting on the set of “Hair,” the couple swapped Los Angeles for Nashville to make their own music and are loving the journey as they share their captivating sound with audiences everywhere.
HEADLINING ACT, MIKE MAINS & THE BRANCHES | Detroit
Known for putting on an unforgettable live performance, this pop-rock band will roll into Appleton after a whirlwind of tour dates – including Houston, Las Vegas and Los Angeles – in support of the group’s latest project, “When We Were in Love.” Anchored by husband and wife Mike and Shannon Mains, the band’s music looks at life through the lens of being part comedy, part tragedy and part fairytale.
HEADLINING ACT, MILES NIELSEN AND THE RUSTED HEARTS | Rockford, IL
For Miles Nielsen, music has been a common thread in his family for generations (his dad plays guitar for Cheap Trick, his brother is the drummer). He started playing on his own about a decade ago and branched out to perform with a group of friends turned bandmates just a few years in. With music that draws from the prime years of Western rock and 60s soul, the band seamlessly blends their voices and instrumentation for a truly magnetic sound.
HEADLINING ACT, LITTLE STRANGER | Charleston, SC
Two-time recipients of the “Hip-Hop Act of the Year” at the Charleston City Paper Music Awards, Philadelphia transplants John and Kevin Shields have grown quite the following in their time performing together. Before forming a duo, the two previously played with acts like Slightly Stoopid, Grace Potter and The Heavy Pets.
