Growing up in Butternut, Wisconsin, Hugh Masterson lived a very rural life in a tiny town. Music led him to Tennessee, where he continues to hone his sound - Midwestern bounce and jangle coupled with Nashville wail and grit. It’s easy, it’s familiar, it’s twangy-goodness, pedal-steel Southern rock. On arrival, Masterson was quickly embraced by the East Nashville community, befriending and touring with artists like The Lone Bellow, Margo Price, Nikki Lane and Anderson East as well as more recent runs with Linda Ortega and The Bottle Rockets. Additionally, Masterson has drawn attention from the Americana Music Association, CMT, KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic,” Rolling Stone, World Café and South by Southwest. He is currently at work on his second solo album, to be released this year.
