Radio Free Honduras

Latin Alternative

Radio Free Honduras is a cross cultural, multigenerational collaboration that exists to support the artistry of Honduran folk music legend Charlie Baran. Prior to immigrating to the USA, Charlie was a fixture in the largely undocumented music scene of Honduras in the 70s and 80s. He was an integral part of several of the biggest musical acts in Honduras during that era, all of which played an essential role in creating the sound that eventually became the genre of music known as Punta Rock. Radio Free Honduras has released two studio records featuring Baran’s original compositions: the self-titled Radio Free Honduras (2014) and Mis Sueños (2019). Their third album is now complete, and set to be released in summer 2023. While heavily influenced by the Punta-rock genre that Baran and his contemporaries in the Honduran music scene pioneered, this band performs a wide variety of styles that they generally refer to as Latin Americana.
