INSIDE THE MILE
What happens when you combine a vibrant, one-mile stretch of Downtown Appleton, Wisconsin, with 150 up-and-coming artists performing FREE shows with live, 100% original music over four days? You get to experience an unforgettable music-filled weekend with over 650 incredible shows!
Mile of Music kicked off in 2013 as a cover-free festival highlighting handcrafted artistry. The theme quickly caught on with music lovers everywhere and is still the focus today as The Mile continues to make music accessible to everyone with nearly all shows FREE to attend. We welcome the finest talent, including singer-songwriters, duos and multi-piece bands showcasing original roots music ranging from indie and folk-rock to soul, to folk, bluegrass and more! On top of that, we highlight homegrown talent and recruit the best emerging artists from all over the U.S.
Along with providing plenty of opportunities to take in the music, attendees are encouraged to make music while they’re at The Mile, too! Our Music Education Team hosts dozens of hands-on music events like artist-led songwriting workshops and interactive drum circles.
MUSIC WITH MEANING
Returning for its eighth year in 2021, Mile of Music is a can’t-miss festival. With more than 80,000 people checking out The Mile in 2019 alone, we’re cultivating something one-of-a-kind in the Fox Cities community that’s drawing national attention. The eighth rendition of Mile of Music is presented by Fox Communities Credit Union and is set for August 5-8.
“When you hear “music town,” people might think that places like Chicago and Nashville are where to be since these cities have the big venues and music labels. But Appleton is quickly coming up on that list as this is where the true music fans are. It’s one of the best places in the country to be right now if you’re looking for new and exciting music.” – Patrick Roberts (Veseria), Artist · READ MORE
“I just wanted to thank you so very much for inviting me to perform at MoM – I am still getting emails from fans about it. I got a couple hundred!!! It really was the highlight of my summer. Thank you for all your hard work.” – Sarah Potenza, Artist
“A great thing about this festival is everyone comes for the same reason – a common love for music. When you go to a show, it doesn’t feel like you’re walking into a crowd of strangers. It’s more like a crowd of new friends.” – Scott Peeples, Music Fan · READ MORE
“With the integration of the Music Education Team into the heart of the festival, Mile of Music has something really special. There are so many opportunities for attendees to interact with artists, learn from them and get involved with the music first-hand.” – Jaclyn Kottman, Mile of Music’s Music Education Team · READ MORE
