For its third year, Mile of Music will do a little more with a little less.
Festival organizers announced Thursday that when the annual music festival makes its return to downtown Appleton in August, though the talent roster will be slightly smaller than in 2014, there will be much more music to take in.
This year’s event, set for Aug. 6-9, will feature between 175 and 200 artists, a slight decrease from the 220-plus that were a part of Mile 2. The leaner lineup will still amount to much more music — upwards of 800 live performances are expected, up from about 600 in 2014. The festival’s inaugural year welcomed about 180 shows from about 100 acts in 2013.
Details for the four-day festival — dubbed Mile 3 — were laid out Thursday by Mile of Music co-founders Dave Willems of the Appleton-based Willems Marketing and Fox Valley native singer-songwriter Cory Chisel at a media event at the OuterEdge in Appleton.
